Overview

Amy Turner, a self-taught artist, draws her creative inspiration from the belief that "anything is fair game" in the world of art. With a passion for breathing new life into discarded and found objects, Amy's work seamlessly combines traditional mediums such as paint and pencil with digital illustration and mixed media.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Amy currently divides her time between Los Angeles and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where her art continues to evolve and captivate. Her artistic process is an organic journey, with the medium itself often shaping the final outcome.

A prominent theme in Amy's work is the metaphor of the Phoenix Rising From The Ashes, symbolizing transformation and rebirth. She has a unique talent for turning items considered "trash" into powerful elements within her creations. Amy's groundbreaking "300 PLAYBOYS" project reimagined objectifying centerfolds as deconstructed modern portraiture, giving agency to the women depicted. Meanwhile, her "THEY ALL FALL DOWN" project transforms post-no-bills advertisements discarded from city buildings into vibrant compositions, provoking questions about the price of glamour and consumerism. In these pieces, Amy finds artistry in the elements of advertisements left to fend for themselves as urban debris.

Amy's artistic journey was deeply influenced by her father, a dentist and artist, who instilled in her a love for painting and a passion for teaching art in schools. Amy continues her father's legacy by volunteering her time and talents on both coasts.

Amy Turner's art is a testament to her belief in the transformative power of creativity, where discarded materials find new purpose, and forgotten voices are heard anew.
